Speaker: Layli Miller-Muro, Executive Director, Tahirih Justice Center (Washington, DC and Houston, TX). The Tahirih Justice Center protects immigrant women and girls from violence, advocates for their legal rights, supports their courage to seek justice and empowers them to achieve equality. Miller-Muro is a former attorney-advisor at the U.S. Department of Justice, Board of Immigration Appeals, and winner of a landmark case benefiting asylum seekers in the US.

This former assistant district attorney and supervisor of Harvard Law School’s battered women’s advocacy project now guides students of the UT School of Law’s Domestic Violence Center as they represent victims of domestic violence.

Aniela Costello serves as the President of the ACT Women Board. She is Licensed Homeopathic Practitioner (LPH). She has been a classical homeopath in clinical practice for 16 years specializing in women's issues and the family dynamic. As a certified Life Coach and Virtues Project Facilitator, Aniela has served non-profit Organizations throughout the Southern Region, merging spiritual principles with practical applications into every day living. Her special areas of interest include facilitating workshops that honor the "teenage spirit" and "The Spiritual Parent."

Amanda Hill, a Texas native, is General Counsel and Risk Manager for Austin Regional Clinic, the largest multi-specialty group in Austin, Texas. Amanda began her career as a project manager before finding her true voice in law school and later as a federal attorney with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Amanda was selected over almost a million applicants to be one of the final sixteen candidates on NBC's "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart," appearing in all but three episodes. During the show, Amanda helped write a children's book, renovated a hotel suite in Times Square, organized a runway fashion show, and more. . In 2007, Amanda formed her own writing company and is currently finishing her first novel. Amanda enjoys working with and for doctors as in-house counsel for ARC, gives motivational talks and lectures, sings in her church, and is expecting her second child in May.

Michelle Burns, BSN, BSAlt.Med, has been involved in social networking and social media since soon after the internet became public. As a small business owner in the service sector, she has adopted social media as a relationship building tool to enhance her business. Michelle teaches interactive and fun classes in social media for beginners as well as how to incorporate social media into business practices during business boot camps. As an individual who initially not only didn't adopt technology, but was afraid of it, she now is excited to show the potential inherent in social media and help others find comfort and fun with the technology.
Social media is on everyone radar, whether it has been integrated into our lives or not. Some people seem to totally embrace social media and others just don't understand what they hype is all about. Whichever category you find yourself in, this interactive workshop is for you. The workshop will explore how social media can enhance relationships across the spectrum of ages, genders and class in ways not always possible in our busy lives.
