ACT Women Service Projects:
Over the years ACT Women a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization has witnessed great success in elevating the station of women and girls on a global scale. As an independent international non profit organization, we have dedicated our energies to the encouragement, education, and empowerment of women.
- Acholi Religious Leaders Peace Initiative
Since 1985, northern Uganda has been racked by insurgency
Civilians are continually being killed and mutilated.
Thousands have been abducted, tortured and sexually abused. Sexual violence against girls and women is rampant.
Acholi Initiative provides secondary education for some of the children who have escaped from their abductors, with second priority going to orphans with no other relative to provide support.
65% of the beneficiaries are specifically reserved for girls. Over 300 children are now being supported by the Acholi Education Initiative.
CONTRIBUTION REQUESTED: Any amount accepted. 100% will go to educational support for the most vulnerable. Your check should be payable to ACT Women, earmarked for Acholi Education Initiative.
- Barli Institute; Lotus Night
It is with great joy that we would like to announce that ACT Women “Advancing Community Through Women” has partnered with Mona Foundation to host a fundraising event, the “Lotus Night” for education of women in rural areas of Indore, India. The Lotus Night fundraiser will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2008, in the Mabee Ballroom at St. Edward’s university in Austin, TX.
Lotus Night celebration will feature entertainment, food, silent Auction and much more. Celebrity guest speaker Rainn Wilson from the Emmy Award winning show “The Office” will join us to support this endeavor.
Mona Foundation is an organization with similar goals to ACT Women works to support global grassroots educational initiatives. Through various contributions, Mona Foundation has been able to support 19 projects in 8 countries on 4 continents
